Effective 27 August 2026. Clerk Suite LLC, Montana. Using any part of the suite means you accept these terms.
Clerk Suite is a collection of programs that share one account, one balance and one clerk. ChessClerk, ListClerk, BridgeClerk, WordClerk, PlainSpoke, NuevoLingo, OmniClerk and whatever comes after them are the same application answering at different addresses.
Signing in at one of them signs you in at all of them. Credit bought in one is spent in any.
The free games are separate. They have no account, no clerk and no balance, and nothing on this page applies to them beyond the disclaimers at the bottom.
One account per person. Don't share it, don't sell it, and don't create additional accounts to collect free starting credit more than once.
An account can hold several people — a household — each with their own conversations. The person who created the account is responsible for what happens under all of them.
Most of the suite has no minimum age. Chess, words, bridge, arithmetic and the games are for anyone.
ListClerk is 18 and over. It moves money between strangers, sends people to job sites and puts people in cars, and none of that is appropriate for a minor. You must be 18 to open a ListClerk deal of any kind.
There are two ways money works here and you may use either or both.
You buy credit and it is deducted as you use it. You are charged only when a call succeeds; a failed request costs nothing. Every charge is recorded with the rate that was in force at the time, so the arithmetic on your account is always checkable.
New accounts receive a small amount of free starting credit. It is a gift, not a purchase, and carries no refund value.
Subscriptions are ala carte. You subscribe to the specific things you want, each priced on its own, and you can drop any one of them without affecting the others.
Subscription tiers are counted in transactions, not in usage. Going over your tier is metered at the overage rate shown on your plan. You are never locked out mid-deal. A cap is a billing arrangement, not a stop.
Your subscriptions are totalled every month and a discount applies to the whole total:
| Monthly total across all subscriptions | Discount on all of them |
|---|---|
| $50 or more | 5% |
| $100 or more | 10% |
| $150 or more | 15% |
The brackets continue in the same steps, and the current table and its ceiling are always shown on your billing page. The discount is applied at billing, not at signup, so adding or dropping a subscription moves it that month.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Unused prepaid credit can be refunded on request, less payment processing fees, for thirty days after purchase. Credit that has already been spent cannot be refunded.
A subscription can be cancelled at any time and stops at the end of the month you have paid for.
Ask the clerk.
Conversations may be logged. What you say to the clerk, and what it says back, may be stored so that problems can be found and fixed. See the privacy page for what is kept and for how long.
Verified chess analysis enters the shared library. ChessClerk keeps a public library of chess lines. When analysis you and the clerk work out survives an engine check, the resulting position, evaluation and plans may be added to it.
Nothing identifying goes with it. The library has no authors. There is no record of who contributed a line and no way to find out — not hidden, absent. What enters is chess, not you.
This applies to chess and to nothing else. Nothing you write in ListClerk, PlainSpoke or anywhere else in the suite goes into any shared anything.
ListClerk is a marketplace. These terms are additional to everything above and apply whenever you open a deal in it.
When you order food, hire someone for a day, sell a couch or take a ride, the agreement is between you and the other person. Clerk Suite LLC is not the buyer, not the seller, not the employer and not the carrier. What we do is introduce, hold the money, sit in the room while it happens and keep the record.
We do not guarantee that anyone will show up, that work will be done well, that goods are as described, or that anyone is who they say they are.
Money is held by Stripe from the moment a deal is agreed until it closes. A deal closes when both sides sign off, and the money is released the same day.
Every deal has a window. If one side signs off and the other never does, the deal closes at the end of that window in favour of whoever signed — because the alternative is money sitting in escrow forever because somebody's phone died. The window for each kind of deal is shown before you agree to it.
If either side refuses to sign, the deal is disputed. The clerk reads the whole transcript and both accounts of what happened, and a disputed deal ends either closed or refunded. It does not sit open.
A person hired through ListClerk is an independent contractor of the person who hired them. They are not an employee of Clerk Suite LLC and they are not our contractor.
We issue a 1099-NEC to workers paid $600 or more in a calendar year, which is why a taxpayer identification number is required before a worker can be paid. Your running total for the year is shown to you as it accrues.
What a hirer may require on site is: sober on site, on time, and following the directions given. Anything a worker does off the clock is their own business, is not a term of the job, and is not reported to the hirer by us.
Before anyone delivers anything, three checks must come back clear: the national sex offender registry, their motor vehicle record, and a county criminal search. All three, before the first delivery.
While delivering, a driver's phone records position, speed and driving events. This is stated plainly rather than buried: if you drive for ListClerk, your driving is measured. It is what opens rideshare, and it is described in full on the privacy page.
Rideshare opens to a driver after 200 clean deliveries, at least 100 of them in traffic. A serious driving event — running a red light, 20 or more over the limit, phone in hand at speed, wrong way on a divided road, or a collision on a job — closes rideshare permanently. Food work continues. A minor event is a warning and sets the delivery count back to zero.
The list of serious events is fixed and published rather than decided case by case.
Before a long-distance ride, the rider and the driver see each other on video and either may decline. Neither decline is recorded with a reason, there is no reason field, and a declined match is simply a match that did not happen.
Nobody is obliged to accept a ride or a passenger.
This tab introduces and screens. It does not close a deal, and we never hold a deposit. You sign your own lease directly with the other person and the tenancy is entirely between you.
Nothing about a tenancy can be unwound by signing off in an app, which is exactly why this tab hands off instead of pretending otherwise.
Any legal club. Meetings are moderated by the clerk. No money changes hands.
The clerk will help you rehome a pet, home to home. That is a real need and there is nowhere good to do it.
No money moves through escrow for an animal. The deal covers the handoff and nothing else. If the two of you agree a rehoming fee, that is between you and it does not go through us — the moment money attaches to an animal here, this becomes brokering, which is licensed in a growing number of states and is exactly what a bad breeder is looking for.
Livestock and wild animals are a different thing and the clerk will not arrange them.
Nobody posts anything here. You ask the clerk and the clerk answers, so the line below is a list of things it says no to rather than a list of things that get taken down.
Weapons and ammunition. Controlled substances and prescription medication. Tobacco and vape. Resale of alcohol. Counterfeit or stolen goods. Anything sexual. Unlicensed contracting, childcare or medical care. Livestock and wild animals. Anything else that is illegal where the deal would happen.
Asking is not a problem — the answer is just no. An account that keeps working at getting around the answer is closed.
Don't use ChessClerk to cheat in games against other people, anywhere, including on other sites. Don't attempt to break, overload or reverse any part of the suite. Don't resell access. Don't use ListClerk to arrange something off the platform in order to avoid the escrow or the record — the protection those give both sides is the product.
Accounts doing any of that can be closed, and unused credit refunded.
The clerk is a language model. It is often right and sometimes wrong, and it will occasionally state something incorrect with complete confidence. Engine evaluations come from Stockfish and are reliable; the words around them are generated and are not. The same is true everywhere else in the suite — a spreadsheet formula it writes, a listing it drafts, a translation it gives you.
Treat it as a strong practice partner rather than an oracle. Check anything that matters.
Clerk Suite is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. It may be unavailable, it may lose data, and it may be wrong.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, liability for any claim arising from your use of Clerk Suite is limited to the greater of the unused credit on your account or the subscription fees you paid in the three months before the claim.
For a ListClerk deal specifically, our liability is limited to the amount held in escrow for that deal.
These terms may change. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and announced in the app. Continuing to use Clerk Suite after a change means you accept it.
You can stop at any time. Ask and your account and its data will be deleted, and any unused credit refunded. Open ListClerk deals have to close or be refunded first — an account cannot be deleted out from under money held in escrow.
Accounts may be closed for the reasons under fair use above, or if the service shuts down. In either case unused credit is refunded.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, United States.
